Essentials for the Fitness-Minded Entrepreneur

As a small business owner (several times over) and now owner of Tampa Bay Sports & Medical Massage, Tracy Alan Jones, a Sports Massage therapist, uniquely understands the importance of health and wellness particularly for entrepreneurs. Today,  he shares massage related essentials for fitness-minded entrepreneurs to help you relax after a hard day’s work.

For entrepreneurs (whether you’re fitness-minded or not), it’s key to set aside time for yourself and your health. The stress of entrepreneurship can impact your body by aching muscles, headaches, jaw pain, and many other ways.

One of our favorite new tech tools is the spate of self-massagers that are mechanical (Theragun and Timtam). You can even make your own if you don’t want to take that big of an investment out of your business account. A high-quality self-massager can do wonders in between professional massage appointments for those times you’ve had a stressful client call, extensive travel, or extremely long hours.

Other essentials include:

Lacrosse Balls

Why they are essential...lacrosse balls are harder and dense than tennis balls. Pausing in between projects, for a quick but powerful self-myofascial release massage may help to relieve tension in your sore muscles. Bonus: they are small enough to fit in your top desk drawer.

Foam Roller

Why they are essential...After a strenuous workout like running or a HIIT workout, it’s important to massage your sore muscles. With a quality, textured foam roller, you can give yourself a deep tissue massage. We recommend you store this conveniently under your desk or your couch if you work remotely.

“For entrepreneurs (whether you’re fitness-minded or not), it’s key to set aside time for yourself and your health. Without you, your business can’t run and you can’t have the impact for clients you’d like.” -Tracy Alan Jones, Tampa Sports and Medical Massage

Don't be deceived into thinking that your fitness will need to take a back seat to your business; striking balance is important. Therefore, another essential for fitness-minded entrepreneurs is setting aside time for a monthly deep tissue massage. A professional massage can help to relieve the tension you feel as an entrepreneur. Here’s a tip: schedule it and commit to it. After all, you wouldn’t miss an appointment with a client. Your wellness and right mindset will help you perform better in your work –and feel great while doing it.
